If you're looking for a dog, pet adoption is a great alternative to buying a dog at a pet store. Puppies from pet stores usually come from puppy mills where they aren't treated very well or cared for. It's pretty sad. I'm not a tree-hugging-PETA-crazy person, but I do support pet adoptions.
